Introduction: Consideration of talent management and identification of its related factors can assist organizations in the implementation of talent management. The aim of the present study was to assess talent management in the Department of Health of Guilan Province, Iran, and determine its relation with demographic variables. Methods: This applied and descriptive-analytical study was performed on 362 employees of the Health Department of Guilan Province in 2015. Systematic random sampling was conducted following the determination of the contribution of each city to the total sample size. Talent management was considered as the main variable and demographic characteristics of the personnel as the background variables. Data was collected using a questionnaire the validity and reliability of which were approved through factor analysis (P < 0.05) and Cronbach’s Alpha (α = 0.93). Data were analyzed using correlation tests, independent t-test, and univariate ANOVA in SPSS software. Results: Mean score of talent management was 84.60 ± 19.33. The mean score of talent management among men and women was 86.40 ± 18.73 and 83.17 ± 19.65, respectively. There was an inverse weak correlation between talent management and education (r = -0.21, P = 0.001). Conclusion: It can be concluded that considering factors such as sex, education, and work experience can help managers in the talent management of staff.
